Guess Who's Two????

If you ask her, she says, four (wonder who taught her that??), and holds up one finger. It's a work in progress. Maybe we should start teaching her three now so she'll have it down for next year!

To celebrate Sadie's special day, we went to the zoo, met Daddy for lunch, and she picked out her birthday balloon (a tradition I remember my mom doing for our birthdays).

I think that pretty much sums up a fabulous day for a two year old!

She's been eyeing this Elmo balloon ever since Morgan picked out her balloon back in June. Every time we went to the grocery store and she saw it, she'd say, "Bloon! Elmo! Bloon!" She's so excited to finally have it!

Here's some of Sadie's two-year old highlights:

Favorite Food: tomatoes, hands down (she's been known to climb onto the counter if she sees one)

Favorite Song: I Am a Child of God

Favorite "Thing": blankie! She loves to carry around (and chew/suck on) her flannel blankie!

Favorite Color: "Geen!" (She doesn't actually know what color this is, I think she just likes to say the word)

Things she likes to do: CLIMB, read stories (to herself or her baby), dance to music (especially Cars and SuperWhy), go to nursery, start water fights, be tickled!

We absolutely love this kid! She's such a fun part of our family! It's so great to see her play with her sister and learn and grow everyday!

For this week's family home evening, we learned about keeping a house of order.

D & C 88:119 reads: Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.

The main (okay, probably only concept) the girls gleaned from this scripture was the house of order. So, for our activity, we "cleaned" the house. Give these girls brooms and away they go! They love to sweep!

And vaccuum. (Although, vaccuuming with a 2 year old is very inefficient! This rug took almost 5 minutes!)

Any guesses how we spent our weekend--I know this is an entire week late, so actually, last weekend??


That's right! No more diapers!!! Potty training SadieBug was a piece of cake compared to Morgan! It seemed like we didn't really have to do much at all, other than buy a bag of M&M's.

Our (my) Garden

I truly am spoiled with a drip line to my garden bed! I don't really have to do much, other than trim the plants and enjoy the harvest!

Here's our carrots. I'm not sure when they'll be ready. I've never tried growing carrots before.

We picked some of our broccoli and added it to our pasta for dinner tonight! Yummy!

Annual TowersWatson Family BBQ

I know we can't predict the weather far enough in the future to plan a summer BBQ. This year, it was 97 degrees! Luckily, we found a splash pad at the park to cool off!

Payson Lakes Reunion

The Boring Family Reunion (I know, I can hear you laughing) was in Payson, UT, this year. We all got very dirty, but had lots of fun! It was fun to finally meet Brian's aunts, uncles and cousins after hearing about them for 7 years!

We began our trip at 4:00 a.m., hoping to get through a chunk with the girls sleeping. We made it a couple of hours before discovering that Sadie gets car sick! (We later discovered that Morgan does, too, during our trip home)
About an hour after we set up our tent, we got rained on (anyone who's ever spent a summer in UT knows about the afternoon showers). Here's Morgan, Sadie, and their 2nd cousin, Brinlee, just waiting out the rain in the tent (and eating grapes).

Sadie jsut couldn't get enough of her Grandma and Grandpa! Here she is with Grandma, playing catch.

Did I mention we all got dirty??? Well, this girl definitely beat EVERYONE else (including all the other kids)!! Everytime we turned around, she was scooping up dirt, getting into the water faucet, or dumping out a water bottle onto her feet! Most of the time, I held her out at arm's length when I carried her. She was THAT dirty!

Lucky for us, the campground didn't have showers! But, Grandma, Grandpa, and Freida stayed in a hotel, so we went back to clean up before bed each night.

Freida found these cute suits for a $1 at WalMart! We're just going to have to work on Sadie's belly a bit...

I read in a magazine just days before we left about marshmallow people. So, I grabbed a bag of marshmallows, a handful of straws and voila! Instant fun! (No picture of Sadie here--all I caught her doing was eating marshmallows!)

Don't ask why Brian is in long sleeves, while the girls are in a cold swimming pool? By the way, the girls' outfits more accurately depict the weather.

Here we are, horseback riding. Brian's uncle brought up his horses for everyone to enjoy. Although we initially put two kicking, screaming, girls up onto the horses, by the end of their ride (about 30 minutes), Morgan didn't want to get off Lady, nor did Sadie want to leave Elmo. (Yes, those are their names.) In fact, Sadie got really good at directing Elmo by saying, " 'mon, Elmo. 's go, Elmo," each time he stopped to have a snack.

What camping trip would be complete without roasting marshmallows by the fire. Here's Morgan's first ever attempt at roasting a marshmallow. She did better than I expected. It took a few minutes before catching fire. But, she said it was delicious, nonetheless!

Apparently Daddy wasn't getting Sadie her breakfast quickly enough, so she took matters into her own hands!

Life Is A Highway

Everytime we watch Cars, Sadie stands really close to the TV and copies MACK, the truck, on this part. I don't know if she just does it subconsciously, or actually intends to do it. Either way, it's funny to watch!

Baseball and Dirt

These pictures brought back memories of my brother's little league days. I'm sure my little sisters came home as least as filthy as my girls did!

Every summer, Brian plays on his company's softball team. They're just in a city league, so we try to make it to the early games. The first year, when Morgan wasn't born/a newborn, it was great. Everyone wanted to hold the baby. Year #2, she had just started walking, but, I could keep her mostly out of the dirt. Last year, Sadie would just crawl through the dirt--yuck! This year, I got smart...I brought toys to encourage them to play in the dirt (hey, that's what they were going to do anyway!) If there was dirt to be found, they found it!!

Disclaimer on Morgan's hair: last week we had some Young Women watch the girls while I worked and one of them brought fabric strips to make hair pretties with Morgan. She (Morgan) thought they were pretty stylish! I'm sure she had a blast with her special project!

Cannery

A few weeks ago, we went to the cannery to stock up on food storage. Kids can help with the dry pack. In our case, we didn't know you had to be in closed toed shoes for even the dry pack, so we got to stack boxes in the warehouse, just outside where the girls got to go in and help pack our wheat and oatmeal. Basically, they put the oxygen packets in and labeled the cans. They had a blast! We'll definitely have to go again (and help them this time!)

Splash Park

This is BY FAR my favorite splash park!

It's super close, super small, and super cheap (FREE, actually!) And, because it's part of a shopping center, I can bribe the girls to be good while we run errands first. And, the best part, they LOVE it!
