One of my college roommates, Ashlyn, and her family, came out for the Poinsettia Bowl. Knowing they'd be so close and our girls (too soon to really tell about the boys) all get along so well, we invited them to come stay with us for part of their trip.
December is a bit too cold for the lake (haven't tried it, just a hunch), so we introduced them to our second favorite family activity--the Great Park Balloon. (Well, we were guessing at the time. We hadn't actually been yet!)
Here we all are, just before we got into the balloon. Our "tour guide" (i.e. the guy operating the balloon), let us go up with just our group, but, the balloon can hold up to 30 people.
It's a little bit difficult to explain, but, the balloon is tethered to the ground via a cable in the center and has high walls (Poor Carson couldn't see anything!) and netting/cages above, so there's pretty much no way you can fall out. It's just a big, round, donut, and Carson spent the entire trip up and down (it goes up 400 feet?) running laps. Pretty awesome babysitter, if you ask me!

There's also a small playground and we had Costco pizza and let the kids run around. We were finishing up our "dinner" and somebody asked where the food court was. When we told him we had brought it, he asked if he could buy a slice because he was starving! Our $20 meal to feed everyone ended up being $18 and, we didn't have to bring home the last 2 slices! Sweet deal!
